Program Overview
The 2020 Winter Break Big Data Project at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is a themed project offered by UCLA Extension. This course introduces students to the rapidly evolving field of data science and its applications. Students will learn about the challenges and problems that data science helps to solve in various fields, including social sciences, finance, health, and entertainment.

Program Content
- Project Duration: February 2, 2020 (arrival) - February 15, 2020 (return)
- Course Content: The course consists of a series of modules, including lectures, field trips, and programming exercises. Students will learn about data science, statistical inference, probability distributions, and data visualization.
- Project Certificate and Transcript: Upon completion, students will receive an official transcript from UCLA (4 credits) and a project participation certificate.
- Tentative Schedule: The project schedule includes lectures, field trips, and cultural activities.

Admission Requirements
- Major: Computer science, big data, artificial intelligence, or related majors
- GPA: 3.0 or above
- Language Requirements: TOEFL (IBT) 80, IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in each band), or CET-4 493, CET-6 450
- Freshmen: High school English score 120 or above (out of 150)
