The Hiroshima University Morito International Higher Education Academy Japanese Language and Culture Online Program aims to enhance the practical Japanese language skills and cultural understanding of Chinese university students. This program is designed for students from Chinese universities that have an inter-university exchange agreement or a departmental exchange agreement with Hiroshima University.

Program Objectives

The primary objective of this program is to improve the Japanese language proficiency of participating students from the N4 or N3 level to the N2 level or higher. The program consists of online classes, allowing students to attend after completing their regular university courses.

Program Structure

• The program is conducted entirely online.
• Japanese language classes start at 6:00 PM (Beijing time) to accommodate students' schedules.
• Japan culture classes are available on demand.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for this program, applicants must:

• Be undergraduate or graduate students at a Chinese university that has an inter-university exchange agreement or a departmental exchange agreement with Hiroshima University.
• Be residing in China.

Program Details

• Duration: October 2025 to June 2026
• Number of Students: 30
• Tuition Fee: 207,200 yen (additional fees for payment handling and teaching materials apply)
• Curriculum:
  • Japanese language classes (6 courses, 15 sessions each, 2 credits per course)
  • Japan culture classes (2 courses, 8 sessions each, 1 credit per course)
  • Classes are held from Monday to Thursday, 19:00-20:30 (Japan time)

Program Features

• Academic Credits: Students can earn credits from Hiroshima University.
• Support System: Japanese students from Hiroshima University serve as tutors to support the learning of each participant.
• Comprehensive Support: The program includes three unique support initiatives:
  1. Personalized Tutoring: Each student is assigned a Japanese tutor for individualized support.
  2. Weekly Self-Study Support: Every Friday, students can participate in self-study support sessions for questions, shadowing practice, and learning consultations.
  3. Post-Test Individualized Learning Consultations: After tests, students can discuss their learning plans and strategies to overcome weaknesses with the instructor.

• More than half of the students who entered with an N4 level of Japanese proficiency achieved an N2 level by the end of the program.
• The program focuses on balancing the four skills of Japanese language proficiency: vocabulary, grammar, reading, and listening.
• The average score of students who completed the program reached the N2 level.
