Introduction to the M.Tech. Program
The M.Tech. program in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship is designed to give students the opportunity to translate product ideas, test assumptions, and validate customer interests. The program aims to enrich the understanding of essentials for technology innovation and entrepreneurship, with a focus on different aspects of early-stage start-ups, design, marketing, finance, strategy, operations, and business plans around product ideation and development.
Program Overview
The program is offered by the Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship (RMSoEE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. The school was established in 2010 with the vision of developing a strong base in engineering education, followed by appropriate management education to be imparted to students. The program is designed to prepare young talents to think out-of-the-box, translate ideas into marketable products, and smartly execute business models to reach their benefits to society.
Program Structure
The program consists of a set of five mandatory core subjects, which expose students to the essentials of technology innovation and entrepreneurship. The core subjects include:

Program Benefits
The program aims to inspire students interested in advancing their technology-based start-ups or developing innovative products within an organization. Students will be trained to think of sustainable engineering solutions strongly supported by business value creation. The program provides access to various laboratories and facilities, including Product Analytics and Modelling, Energy Systems, Bio Lab, Fabrication Lab, and Analytics Lab. Students will also have access to campus incubators like Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) and other emerging incubation centers.
Career Opportunities
After completing the course, students will be ready to take senior-level responsibilities in the diverse corporate world where entrepreneurial qualities drive success or start their own ventures. The program provides a unique feature whereby students will undertake a mandatory 8-week summer internship in either of the three categories: 'Industry Internship', 'Research Internship', or 'Project Internship' under the mentorship of an expert from the institution/industry/research organization. This will be followed by an M.Tech. project having the flavor of technology innovation and entrepreneurship.
