Program Overview

The University of Sherbrooke offers a program in project management, designed to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage projects.

Context

The program is aimed at project managers and individuals involved in project management, who wish to develop their understanding of the challenges and issues related to project management.

Objectives

The program's objectives are defined according to three axes of competence:

• Technical competence:
  • Starting a project and validating its priority for the organization
  • Planning: essential steps to reach the destination
  • Using the concept of the triple constraint to define the project's baseline
  • Terminating the project to maximize benefits for the organization
  • Avoiding surprises by deploying effective risk management
  • Understanding the concept of earned value to define performance indicators
• Leadership competence:
  • Recognizing the essential elements of effective communication
  • Transmitting the right messages using value-added reports
  • Understanding team dynamics (classic and virtual) and conflict management strategies
  • Comprehending the roles and responsibilities of multiple stakeholders
  • The authority of the project manager and the organizational context
• Strategic competence:
  • The origin of projects and the organizational context
  • The benefits of portfolio management
  • Financial concepts for project managers
  • Understanding the impact of procurement on the project

Pedagogical Approach

The program uses a combination of presentation, group discussion, and individual and team exercises.

Instructor

The program is taught by Robert Goyette, who has over 20 years of experience as an operations manager and project manager. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the 丱ole Polytechnique de Montr嶧l and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Fees and Schedule

The program fees are as follows:

• Registration with discount code (formation at 5$ per hour): $120.00
• Early registration (30 days or more before the program): $1,215.00
• Registration for University of Sherbrooke students, graduates, or employees: $1,215.00
• Regular registration (30 days or less before the program): $1,350.00 The program is scheduled to take place on March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with a one-hour break for lunch).

Accreditation or Partnership

The program is offered in partnership with the Government of Quebec, with certain dates available at a reduced rate of $5 per hour.
