Introduction to the Music Program at Fuzhou University

Fuzhou University is a provincial public full-time ordinary higher education institution, established in 1958. It is a national "Double First-Class" construction university and a university co-constructed by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education. The university has 27 colleges, including the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which offers four undergraduate majors: Music, Applied Psychology, Sociology, and Chinese Language and Literature.


Program Overview

The Music program focuses on cultivating students' professional knowledge and skills in music, enabling them to analyze, research, and perform music works, as well as apply music theory. The program aims to produce compound and innovative talents who can work in art (culture) galleries, primary and secondary schools, social music groups, research institutions, publishing houses, radio, film, and television stations, and other departments.


  • The program duration is four years, and graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
  • The program emphasizes the development of students' musical skills, including music performance, music creation, and music education.

Admission Principles

  • Applicants must meet the cultural and professional exam scores required for admission to art majors in their province.
  • The admission principles are as follows:
    1. For provinces that implement parallel voluntary admission, the university will admit students based on the principles determined by the provincial admission examination institution.
    2. For provinces that do not implement parallel voluntary admission, the university will admit students based on their comprehensive scores, which are calculated as follows:
    • Comprehensive score = (cultural exam score / cultural exam full score) x 40 + (professional exam score / professional exam full score) x 60

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

  • The tuition fee for the Music program is 8,900 yuan per academic year.
  • Students who are financially disadvantaged can apply for national scholarships.
  • Students who excel in their studies and have good behavior can receive awards and scholarships.

Academic Regulations
