Introduction to the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Specialist Certificate Program

The primary objective of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Specialist Certificate Program is to provide individuals in the architecture and construction sectors in Turkey with the conceptual and practical knowledge of BIM processes. This program aims to train qualified professionals in the field of digital information production in the construction and building sector.

Program Objectives

The objectives of the BIM Specialist Certificate Program are:

• To enable professionals working in the construction and building sector to understand the digital information modeling ecosystem.
• To equip professionals with digital information modeling capabilities and enhance their skills.
• To facilitate the effective use of modeling tools by professionals in the construction and building sector.
• To enable professionals to perform analyses (such as sustainability and collision analyses, cost estimation, and project planning processes) using the generated digital information.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the BIM Specialist Certificate Program, participants will be able to:

• Define Building Information Models and the new work models they bring to the construction sector.
• Identify BIM usage scenarios.
• List the main computer programs used in the BIM ecosystem and their advantages and disadvantages.
• Model buildings and systems based on object-based working principles.
• Perform analyses (such as collision analyses, time simulations, quantity surveying, sustainability, energy, and carbon footprint calculations) using the generated models.

Application Requirements

This certificate program is open to individuals who have completed a two-year technical school or a four-year university in fields related to the construction sector and have experience in the sector.

Application Process

After completing the application process, participants must send their diploma or graduation certificate to the specified address.

Program Duration and Schedule

The program consists of 60 course hours, and the education language can be either Turkish or English, depending on the participants' preferences.

Certification

To obtain a certificate, participants must:

1. Attend at least 80% of the program.
2. Complete the project assigned in Module 4, which includes modeling and analysis, and submit it digitally within the specified timeframe.

Program Modules

The BIM Specialist Certificate Program consists of four main modules:

1. Module 1 Building Information Modeling: Concepts (8 hours)
   • This module introduces the concept of Building Information Modeling, its importance in the modern architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, and the various software used in the BIM ecosystem.
2. Module 2 Building Information Modeling: Modeling (24 hours)
   • This module focuses on the practical application of BIM, using software such as Autodesk Revit to create detailed models of buildings, including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
3. Module 3 Building Information Modeling: Analysis (16 hours)
   • In this module, participants learn how to perform various analyses using BIM models, such as collision detection, time simulations, quantity surveying, and sustainability analyses, using tools like Autodesk Navisworks.
4. Module 4 Building Information Modeling: Application (12 hours)
   • The final module involves the application of the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous modules to a real-world project, where participants create and analyze a BIM model of a building.

The program is taught by experienced instructors, including Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Tanyer and Doç. Dr. Mehmet Koray Pekeriçli.

Tuition Fee

The tuition fee for the program is 34,650 Turkish Lira.
