Introduction to the 2023 Auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) Bachelor's Degree Program

The Beijing University of Chemical Technology's Law program began recruiting students in 1995 and is a school-level demonstration major, a Beijing municipal characteristic major, and was rated as a Beijing municipal first-class major in 2019. In 2006, it was granted the right to confer a master's degree in civil and commercial law, in 2010, it was granted the right to confer a master's degree in law, and in 2019, it was granted the right to confer a professional master's degree in law. Currently, there are three internal practice bases (including a mock courtroom) and eight external teaching bases (two courts and six law firms). Among them, the Chaoyang District Court is a national and Beijing municipal-level external talent training base.


Program Overview

The Law program currently has 27 professional teachers, including six professors, 14 associate professors, and five lecturers. Among them, 26 have doctoral degrees, one has a master's degree, and one is a postdoctoral researcher. All of them graduated from well-known law schools in China and abroad, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, and the University of Chicago. There are three school-level teaching masters, one moral model, and eight teachers who have won awards in the teaching basic skills competition, with five being named "Top Ten Teachers."


The auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) degree relies on the school's advantageous disciplines, takes the Law program as its foundation, and forms a unique characteristic of combining engineering and law. This constructs a distinctive Beijing University of Chemical Technology intellectual property talent brand.


Training Objectives

The auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) degree adheres to the training concept of "broad caliber, thick foundation, high quality, and strong ability." It aims to cultivate high-level, application-oriented, and innovative legal talents with a solid professional theoretical foundation, a reasonable knowledge structure, and the ability to provide high-quality legal services. The program also aims to enhance students' employment competitiveness and provide them with a competitive edge in their future careers.


Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) degree are as follows:


  • GPA 2.5
  • No failing grades
  • No disciplinary actions

Enrollment and Tuition

The program plans to enroll 150 students. The tuition fee is 150 yuan per credit, with a total of 53 credits. The tuition fee will be paid according to the credits taken each semester.

Graduation and Degree Conferral

According to the "Regulations on the Conferral of Bachelor's Degrees" (Academic Degree [2019] No. 20), students who complete the required courses and meet the graduation requirements will be awarded a Bachelor's degree in Law (Intellectual Property). The degree will be noted on the student's main major diploma and will not be issued separately.


Important Notes

  1. According to the "Regulations on the Conferral of Bachelor's Degrees" (Academic Degree [2019] No. 20), the auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) degree will not be issued separately, but will be noted on the student's main major diploma.
  2. Whether the auxiliary Law (Intellectual Property) degree can be used to take the national civil service examination, the national unified legal profession qualification examination, and other national and social examinations will be determined by the relevant policies at the time of the examination.
  3. If the enrollment number is less than 30, the program will not be opened.
