Open University: Finnish 2A, Autumn 2025

Course Description

The Open University course Finnish 2A is offered in the autumn of 2025. This course is part of the continuous learning category of Languages and Communication.

Learning Outcomes

The student can handle familiar and predictable communication and service situations. They can make simple requests and express their wishes and needs. They can describe past events. They are able to extract the necessary information from a short message and write short texts. They understand the basic structures of Finnish culture and society. The student has the ability to use the language independently, even without aids. They gain methods for independent language skill development.

Objective

The objective is to attain the level A1.3 of the Common European Framework of Reference.

Prerequisites

Before registering for this course, the student should have completed the courses Finnish 1A and 1B or have corresponding skills (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages level A1.2).

Study Methods

• Active participation in online teaching (max. 24 hours)
• Independent online studying and finishing assignments
• Written final exam

Schedules

The course will be organized from September 10 to October 24, with online teaching on specific Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

• The study fee is 20 euros per ECTS credit for individual study units.
