Introduction to the "3+1+1" Joint Cultivation Program

The "3+1+1" joint cultivation program is a collaborative effort between Southwest University and the Universitŕ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Italy. This program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of agriculture and food science, combining the strengths of both universities.

Cultivation Mode - "3+1+1"

• The first three years: Complete undergraduate courses at Southwest University
• The fourth year: Study at UCSC for the first year of the master's program, while completing the undergraduate thesis and defense at Southwest University to obtain a bachelor's degree
• The fifth year: Complete the second year of the master's program at UCSC to obtain a master's degree

Optional Master's Programs

Students can choose from two master's programs at UCSC:

1. Sustainable Viticulture and Enology (SVE) at the Piacenza campus
2. Agriculture and Food Economics (AFE) at the Cremona campus

Employment and Direct Ph.D. Opportunities

1. Internship Guidance: The college will direct students to 39 benchmark enterprises for internships with English as the working language. Graduates can apply for a one-year "Talent Residence" visa in Italy, providing opportunities for employment in the EU.
2. Direct Ph.D. Path: Master's graduates can apply for the "Agrisystem" Ph.D. program at UCSC. The China Scholarship Council (CSC) signed a joint Ph.D. training agreement with UCSC in 2025, allowing students to apply for CSC funding to pursue their Ph.D.

Application Conditions

Application Qualifications

• Average GPA of the first three years not lower than 2.75/4.0 or average score not lower than 75/100

Language Requirements

• Participate in UCSC's four-week English intensive course (64 hours, approximately 10,000 yuan), without needing to submit language scores
• Submit IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 by May 30, 2026, to exempt from the language course

Program Fees

Tuition Fees, International Student Scholarships, and Invernizzi Foundation Scholarships

1. Standard Tuition Fee: 9,050 euros per academic year for UCSC's 2025/26 master's program
2. UCSC International Scholarship: UCSC's International Office provides a 22% tuition waiver for international students from Southwest University, reducing the tuition to 7,000 euros per academic year
3. Invernizzi Foundation Scholarship: The Invernizzi Foundation provides an additional 2,500 euros scholarship for students enrolled in the Agriculture and Food Economics master's program, limited to a first-come, first-served basis

Reduced tuition fees:

• First year: 4,500 euros (approximately 34,000 yuan)
• Second year: 7,000 euros (approximately 53,200 yuan)

Payment method: Online payment, with the option to pay UCSC tuition in five installments

4. Southwest University provides financial assistance to qualified students according to the "Southwest University Students' Overseas Exchange Study Special Fund Management Regulations" (Xishan School [2024] No. 84)

Living Costs

• Accommodation in Piacenza and Cremona: approximately 400 euros per month, significantly lower than major European cities
• Meal prices in the cafeteria: 5-7.5 euros per meal

UCSC's Global Cooperation and International Education Office, in conjunction with Southwest University's International Office, provides free services, including visa guidance, pre-departure training, and more, to support program students.
