Introduction to the Master's Program in Public Health

The Master's Program in Public Health, offered by the University of Patras, is designed to provide high-level postgraduate education to graduates of AEI and TEI in the field of Public Health.

Program Details

• Duration of study: Three (3) academic semesters
• Mode of study: Combination of synchronous distance learning and hybrid teaching (simultaneous face-to-face and distance learning)

Program Objectives

• To provide high-level postgraduate education in Public Health to scientists who have the potential to engage in Public Health due to their previous education and experience.
• To provide education tailored to the different fields of origin of the candidates and to provide them with the foundations for future career opportunities in the field of Public Health.
• To enable graduates of the Master's program to acquire a significant and deep field of knowledge in the subjects of Public Health.

Minimum Duration of Studies

• Three (3) academic semesters, including the time for the preparation of the dissertation, as the law stipulates.
• The maximum duration of studies cannot exceed twice the normal duration of studies, as defined in the decision establishing each Master's program. Therefore, the maximum duration of studies in the Master's program is six (6) semesters.

Extension of Studies

• After an application by the student (who has successfully completed the first semester of studies), a suspension of studies may be granted, which is not counted towards the duration of studies. The suspension of studies cannot exceed two (2) consecutive semesters.
• It is possible, and only in exceptional cases (indicatively: illness, workload, serious family reasons, military service, force majeure), to grant an extension of studies for up to one year, following a justified decision by the Department's Assembly.

Selection Process

Diploma Grade or Certificate

• The non-fulfillment of this criterion makes the proposal rejectable. Grading: Up to 30 points, depending on the diploma grade multiplied by 3.

Research Activity and Publications - Work Experience

• Additional scoring. Grading: Up to 10 points for a project certified by the scientific responsible or director of each project/work.

English Language Knowledge

• Grading: Excellent knowledge: 15 points, Very Good knowledge: 10 points, Good knowledge: 5 points.

Interview

• If the candidate does not attend the interview, they are rejected. Grading: Excellent: 35 points.
