Program Purpose and Description
The Kala Artist-In-Residence Program offers a productive and professional communal studio experience for artists. In this self-driven environment, artists work alongside other professionals, respecting the equipment, studio, and bringing their own consumable supplies. The program provides 24/7 access to a large print studio and electronic media center, with resident artists having their own keys and onsite storage. Upon successful completion, artists may apply for extended residencies.
Eligibility
Artists applying for the residency should be familiar with at least one of the media offered at Kala.
Obligations
All artists are required to donate one print (or equivalent) per contract to the program's archive, which was established in 1974 and features work from every artist who has participated in the program.

The selection process considers conceptual creativity and technical knowledge.
Citizenship
There are no citizenship limitations associated with this residency program.
Program Deadline
The program has three annual application deadlines, typically in mid-March, mid-July, and mid-October.
