Special Zoophysiology
نظرة عامة على البرنامج
Course Overview
The course Special Zoophysiology (BI3023) is a second-degree level course that explores comparative physiology to compare physiological mechanisms and functional organization.
Course Content
This course covers various topics, including:
- Metabolism
- Temperature regulation
- Endocrinology
- Osmoregulation
- Neuro- and sensory physiology Students will present current research literature in seminars, focusing on ecophysiological adaptations.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of the course, students should be familiar with physiological processes and the relation between structure and function. The learning goals regarding knowledge, skills, and general competence are as follows:
- Obtain knowledge about comparative physiology and mechanisms that enable ecophysiological adaptations
- Acquire skills to present comparative physiology in an ecophysiological context and discuss it based on acquired knowledge
- Develop general competence in communicating research literature and applying knowledge in new areas
Learning Methods and Activities
The course includes lectures and seminars (mandatory) for 36 hours. There will be an oral examination at the end of the spring semester. Approved participation in seminars is a compulsory assignment.
Compulsory Assignments
- Approved seminar attendance
Evaluation
The final examination is an oral exam. To be eligible for the exam, students must pass the compulsory assignment. In case of failure or to improve their grade, students can sign up for a new final exam in both spring and autumn semesters.
Required Previous Knowledge
Students should have completed BI2024 and BI2025 or equivalent courses.
Course Materials
New literature within the different topics will be used.
Credit Reductions
This course has academic overlap with BI3021. If students take overlapping courses, they will receive a credit reduction in the course with the lowest grade. If the grades are the same, the reduction will be applied to the course completed most recently.
Subject Areas
- Zoophysiology
- Biology
- Zoology
Examination Arrangement
The examination arrangement is an oral exam, with a duration of 1 hour and a weighting of 100/100. Examination aids are allowed, with code D.
Ordinary Examination
Ordinary examinations are held in Autumn and Spring, with the same examination arrangement and weighting.
