Introduction to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is a renowned public research university located in Los Angeles, California, founded in 1919. It is one of the top comprehensive universities in the United States, ranking 46th in the QS World University Rankings in 2026.

Program Introduction

The program is a 3-week summer English project at UCLA, offering three courses:

• Conversation and Fluency: This course aims to improve English listening and speaking skills through interactive activities and discussions.
• Academic Reading and Writing: This course focuses on enhancing academic reading and writing abilities by exploring topics such as the impact of social media on language and communication, and the collision of Eastern and Western cultures.
• Public Speaking: This course is designed to improve students' public speaking skills in an academic context, boosting their confidence and ability to engage with audiences effectively.

Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

• Be full-time undergraduate or graduate students
• Meet the English language requirements: TOEFL 76, IELTS 6, CET-4 450, CET-6 430, or high school English 110, or Duolingo 95; those without these scores can take an internal test

Program Details

• Program dates: July 13th to July 31st (3 weeks)
• Time arrangement: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM
• Selection criteria: Limited spots available, first-come-first-served basis
• Estimated cost: $3640 (approximately 25,000 CNY, based on a 7.0 exchange rate), including tuition, miscellaneous fees, group airport pickup, international student insurance, and program management fees
• Excluded costs: 3-week on-campus accommodation (estimated $1000, varying by apartment), visa fees, round-trip air tickets, and personal expenses
• Scholarship: Opportunity to receive a project ambassador scholarship (details to be consulted with the project manager)

Application Procedure

1. Applicants must submit their applications through the university's online system before April 13th, 2026, including electronic transcripts, language proficiency certificates, and signed student and parent declarations.
2. After acceptance by the host university, applicants will proceed with exchange study-related procedures.

Program Management

1. Participating students must comply with the university's regulations for credit recognition and complete relevant procedures.
2. Before departure, students must log in to the university's online system to complete the outbound travel approval procedure and submit the required declarations.
