Introduction to the Four-Year Entry Level PharmD Program
The Howard University College of Pharmacy offers a traditional four-year, in-person Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program located in Washington, D.C. This program provides an immersive, on-campus experience with a rigorous and interactive curriculum, personalized faculty mentorship, and dynamic peer collaboration. The goal is to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of pre-pharmacy prerequisite courses: All required coursework must be completed prior to matriculation.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5: Competitive applicants typically exceed this minimum.
- Letter of Intent: A personal statement (minimum 250 words) explaining why the applicant is interested in attending pharmacy school and pursuing a PharmD degree.
- Two letters of recommendation: Must be from a faculty member, mentor, academic advisor, or healthcare employer. Letters from family members or relatives (by blood or marriage) will not be accepted.
- Official transcripts: Transcripts must be submitted from all previously attended colleges or universities.
How to Apply
To apply, students must complete all pre-requisite requirements and use the PharmCAS application. There is a $300 enrollment fee and a $700 good faith fee required for all students when accepting an offer of admission.
Interviews
If an applicant's application meets the minimum requirements, an interview invitation will be sent out. Interviews are held on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. During the interview, applicants will be assessed on:
- Communication
- Observation
- Professional conduct
- Analysis and synthesis Applicants will also participate in a student panel Q&A, go on a college tour, and take an on-site algebra-based math test.
