Introduction to the Engineering Doctoral Program

The Engineering Doctoral Program at Taiyuan University of Technology aims to cultivate high-level innovative talents in the field of engineering, serving the national strategy of innovative-driven development. The program focuses on solving complex engineering technical problems, conducting engineering technical innovation, and planning and organizing engineering technical research and development.

Program Objectives

The program objectives are to:

• Cultivate high-level innovative talents in the field of engineering
• Serve the national strategy of innovative-driven development
• Construct a new pattern of engineering high-end talent cultivation
• Face the actual needs of enterprises (industries) and cultivate talents with a solid foundation in theory and systematic knowledge

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

• Be a citizen of the People's Republic of China
• Uphold the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and have a correct political direction
• Be physically and mentally healthy
• Meet specific requirements for non-full-time and full-time students

Non-Full-Time Students

Non-full-time students must:

• Generally have a master's degree and three years of engineering technology practice experience
• Or have a bachelor's degree and six years of engineering technology practice experience with a vice-high title or above
• Or have a bachelor's degree and eight years of engineering technology practice experience
• Be recommended by their work unit
• Not be a teacher in a higher education institution

Full-Time Students

Full-time students must:

• Meet the requirements for non-full-time students
• Have a good command of English (TOEFL 90 or IELTS 6.0)
• Be a current student or have a master's degree
• Have a strong engineering practice ability and potential for innovation

Program Structure

The program includes:

• Course learning
• Thesis work
• Graduation and degree conferment

Course Learning

Course learning is conducted on weekends and includes a range of engineering-related courses.

Thesis Work

Thesis work is combined with enterprise research projects, and students are encouraged to bring their own research topics.

Graduation and Degree Conferment

Students who complete the program and meet the requirements will be awarded a graduate certificate and a doctoral degree.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for non-full-time students are 80,000 yuan, paid in two installments. Tuition fees for full-time students are 10,000 yuan per year, paid for four years.
