Postgraduate Program: Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases

The University of Thessaly's School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, offers a postgraduate program entitled "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases." This program aims to provide high-quality theoretical knowledge and clinical experience in the modern prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases, with a focus on prevention and specialized knowledge in pediatric specializations.

Purpose

The purpose of the Master's Program is to:

• Train and specialize young scientists in the field of Pediatrics and Pediatric specializations.
• Provide in-depth, thorough, and modern training to new scientific potential.
• Equip trainees with the necessary skills for research and the production of new knowledge.
• Prepare scientists for successful careers in the private, public, and academic sectors.
• Prepare students for postgraduate studies at the doctoral level.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the program is open to University and T.E.I. graduates from the country or holders of equivalent foreign qualifications recognized by D.O.A.T.A.P./DIKATSA, coming from the Departments of Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Health Visitors, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and other health sciences. Students from foreign institutions must provide a certificate of correspondence and equivalence from the competent DOATAP degree recognition body.

Program Structure

The program is structured in four academic semesters, including courses, practical training, and preparation of a diploma thesis. The total number of credits (ECTS) required to obtain the Postgraduate Diploma is 120 ECTS.

Tuition Fees

Tuition is paid in installments in four installments of 800.00 at the beginning of each semester. The total tuition fees for all four semesters amount to 3,200.00.

Internship

The internship of postgraduate students takes place in the two wards of the Pediatric Clinic, in the Intensive Care Unit for Children, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in the Children's ICU, in the Obstetrics Clinic, and in outpatient clinics. The internship may also be carried out in a Pediatric Clinic of another Public or Private Hospital or in a Primary Health Care structure that deals with the subject of Pediatrics.

Evaluation and Selection

The evaluation of graduate student candidates is done by the Graduate Student Selection Committee in cooperation with the Coordinating Committee in three phases:

1. Verification of supporting documents
2. Grading of the criteria
3. Oral Interview

Supporting Documents

Interested parties should submit the following supporting documents:

1. Form Application for participation
2. Detailed CV with data on the candidate's studies, research, and professional experience
3. Copy of diploma or degree or certificate
4. Photocopy of both sides of the police ID or passport
5. A letter of recommendation
6. Scientific publications, awards, and evidence of research activity (if any)
7. Evidence of professional experience (if any)
8. Proof of knowledge of foreign languages
9. One photo ID
10. Responsible Declaration of Law 1599/86
11. Responsible Declaration of Law 1599/86 in which he/she will declare that he/she is not registered in another PMS of another Department

Language of Instruction

The language of instruction is Greek, with the use of English bibliography and terms where required. A sufficient knowledge of the English language is a prerequisite for selection, beyond the language of the program's instruction.
