Athletic Training Program

The Athletic Training program at Central Michigan University is a comprehensive program that prepares students for a career in athletic training. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education and is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience needed for a career in health care.


Program Overview

The program is a 3+2 program, which includes three years of undergraduate courses and two years of graduate courses, earning students both a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (BSAT) and a Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT). The program begins with a pre-professional phase, and students must apply for the professional phase once at CMU. Acceptance into the professional phase is necessary to complete the BSAT/MSAT program.

Accelerated Athletic Training Program

The program allows students to earn both their bachelor's and master's in athletic training in just five years, providing them with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience needed for a career in health care. Students will take classes in athletic training, anatomy, nutrition, injury prevention, and therapeutic rehabilitation, with no more than 16 students per class, ensuring plenty of attention from expert educators. Additionally, students will gain hands-on experience by working with college and high school sports teams or helping people at CMU's recreational facilities and fitness clinics.
