Mathematics Circle @ HBCSE-TIFR Program

The Mathematics Circle is a pan-TIFR initiative aimed at identifying mathematically inclined students at an early stage, honing their aptitude and mathematical skills, and exposing them to the joy of doing mathematics.

Program Details

• Duration: March 27, 2024, to June 18, 2024
• Schedule: Every Wednesday from 4 6 pm
• Venue: Math Lab, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai
• Eligibility: Girl students of grade 8th and 9th standard studying in any school system
• Sessions: 20 sessions in total
• Certificate: Students completing 80% of the sessions will be entitled to a certificate

Program Focus

The math circle sessions will focus on problem-solving skills and perseverance through interesting math activities and atypical problems. The explorations and course material are curated by active researchers in Mathematics Education.

Admission Criteria

• The program is free, but seats are limited (30 only).
• Parents will be responsible for picking up and dropping off the students.
• Students must be able to attend at least 80% of the sessions.

• The last date to apply was March 15, 2024.
• Names of the selected students were shared on March 20, 2024.
