Program Overview

The Diploma program at the Academy of Architecture is a semester-long academic program that takes place in the spring semester. The program is preceded by introductory lectures and meetings in the fall semester. Students are divided into 16 ateliers, each directed by a professor of Design, assisted by an architect collaborator. Each atelier has a maximum of 12 students.

Program Structure

The program is divided into two semesters:

Semester I

• Choice of atelier
• Introductory meetings and lectures on the project theme
• Development of basic materials

Semester II

• Trip to the project locations
• Individual design work
• Personal critiques with the atelier professor and assistant
• Intermediate critique with the atelier professor, the Diploma director, and the Commission
• Meetings with teachers from various theoretical disciplines
• Final critique with the atelier professor, the Diploma director, and the entire Commission

Program Details

• The program director provides a calendar and program with a list of all professors, Commission members, architect collaborators, and enrolled students.
• The student can only access the final critique with the agreement of the atelier professor.
• For students who are not admitted to the final critiques in June and for those engaged in recovering the necessary training credits, the Diploma work will take place in the spring semester of the following academic year.
