Introduction to the DBIE Project

The DBIE project is an international credit exchange program provided by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), aiming to offer students an opportunity to understand European business, experience life in Barcelona, and broaden their international perspective.

Project Overview

• The project duration is 15 weeks, adopting a course selection mode, where students can choose 6 courses from 21 international credit courses.
• All courses are taught in English.
• The UAB is a renowned public university in Spain, ranked first in Spain and 178th in the 2023 QS World University Rankings.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility

1. First- and second-year undergraduate students from related majors.
2. Students with good English listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.
3. Students capable of completing the exchange study in Spain.

Recommended Majors

• Economics and management-related majors.

Language of Instruction

• English.

Study Period and Fees

Study Period

• September 1, 2023, to December 15, 2023.

Fees

1. Tuition Fees: 39,500 RMB (to be paid to UAB).
2. Living Expenses in Barcelona: Approximately 600-700 Euros per month (including accommodation, meals, local transportation, and books), totaling around 60,000 to 70,000 RMB for the semester (including air tickets, visa, accommodation, living expenses, and tuition fees).
3. Scholarship: Students from the School of Business, Jinan University, who participate in the project and achieve qualified grades, can receive a scholarship of 5,000 RMB upon their return.

Application and Deadline

Application Materials

• DBIE project application form.
• Scanned copy of a valid passport.
• Official transcript from the current university, including GPA or equivalent grades (if applicable).
• Passport photo (in JPG format, as required by the EU).
• Personal medical insurance (with a coverage of not less than 10,000 Euros, as required by the visa center, to be provided upon arrival).

Application Deadline

• May 30, 2023 (for internal application at Jinan University).

Quota

• No limit.

Online Application

• After the internal application, students will be guided by teachers to submit their applications online.
• Required documents for online application:
  • Project application form.
  • English proficiency test results (such as IELTS or TOEFL, meeting the EU B2 standard; if not available, students will participate in an English oral interview organized by UAB).
  • Course selection form (to be filled out under the guidance of teachers).
  • English version of the transcript.

Project Details and Course Settings

English Oral Interview

• Based on the UAB oral interview results, students will be divided into three levels:
  1. Pass: Students can freely choose from the 21 courses.
  2. Pass with Conditions: Students must choose one "English Enhancement Course" among their six selected courses.
  3. Fail: Students cannot participate in the project.
• Students who participate in the English oral interview need to pay a 400 RMB interview registration fee, which will be fully refunded if they fail the interview.

Project Outcomes

1. Certificate and Transcript: Upon completion, students will receive a project completion certificate and an official transcript.
2. Study Experience: Students will gain valuable study experience at a renowned Spanish university.
3. Academic Foundation: Students will have the opportunity to learn from high-level professors in the field of economics, laying a foundation for future master's or doctoral studies.
4. Recommendation Letters: Outstanding students may receive recommendation letters from UAB professors.
5. Networking Opportunities: Students will have the chance to make friends with students from other top universities worldwide, expanding their social network.
6. Credit Transfer: Credits earned abroad can be used to replace domestic professional course credits.
