Introduction to Xiangtan University

Xiangtan University (XTU) is a comprehensive and national key university in China, established in 1958. It has steadily improved its comprehensive school-running strength and core competitiveness, ranking 43rd among all mainland Chinese universities appraised by the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine.

Overview of the University

XTU has a graduate school, 23 colleges and teaching departments, and more than 30,000 full-time students. The university offers 9 majors, including literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, economics, management, law, and art. It has gained an increasing influence internationally and domestically, with cooperation platforms and international cooperation training projects with 60 universities and research institutions from more than 20 countries.

Chinese Government Scholarship--China-Africa Friendship Program

The Chinese Government Scholarship--China-Africa Friendship Program is a full scholarship established by the Ministry of Education to support Chinese universities in attracting outstanding international students from African countries for graduate studies in China. Xiangtan University is one of the prestigious universities designated to undertake this program to recruit graduate students.

Scholarship Contents

The scholarship covers:

• Tuition fees
• Accommodations
• Health Insurance
• Living stipends
  • Master's degree applicants: 3,000 Yuan/Month
  • Doctoral degree applicants: 3,500 Yuan/Month

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

1. Be citizens of African nationality, physically and mentally healthy, and able to perform successfully in an academic program in a foreign country.
2. Meet the education and age requirements:

• Bachelor's degree holders and below the age of 35 when applying for master's degree programs.
• Master's degree holders and below the age of 40 when applying for doctoral degree programs.

3. Demonstrate language capability:

• Applicants from non-native English-speaking countries must provide proof of English proficiency, requiring an IELTS score of 6 or higher, or TOEFL score of 80 or higher.
• Native English speakers are exempt from providing the above-mentioned English proficiency certificate.

4. Comply with Chinese laws and university regulations, and respect Chinese customs.
5. Not be awarded other scholarships.

1. Application materials should be scanned in A4 format and submitted.
2. The application due date is June 20, 2021.

1. CSC Scholarship Application Form
2. A copy of passport information page
3. Notarized highest diploma and official transcripts
4. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (with a valid Blood Test Report copy)
5. Certification of no criminal record
6. Specific study or research plan in China
7. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors
8. Chinese proficiency certificate/HSK certificate
9. Other materials such as published papers, awards, proof of work or internship, etc. (if available)
