Graduate Certificate in Sustainability
The Graduate Certificate in Sustainability is designed to prepare working professionals to guide businesses, organizations, and communities in anticipating, implementing, and celebrating the achievement of social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
Program Overview
The 12-credit graduate certificate program provides specialized training in the areas of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Students will choose a minimum of two courses from each focus area, including environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
Sustainability Focus Areas
- Environmental Focus: Courses with an environmental sustainability focus, such as Ecological Systems, Energy Resources, and Soil Resources.
- Social Focus: Courses with a social sustainability focus, such as Business Ethics/Environment, Human Health and Well Being, and Social/Environmental Justice.
- Economic Focus: Courses with an economic sustainability focus, such as Ecological Economics, Media Relations, and Reporting for Business.
Course Requirements
The program requires students to complete 12 credits, with each course being one credit and five weeks long. This allows students to easily balance their studies alongside their career.
Tuition and Fees
- Indiana Residents:
- $589 for one course
- $1,078 for two courses taken in the same academic semester
- $1,567 for three courses taken in the same academic semester
- Out-of-State Residents:
- $821 for one course
- $1,542 for two courses taken in the same academic semester
- $2,263 for three courses taken in the same academic semester
ISSP Education Partnership
As an International Society of Sustainability (ISSP) Education Partner, Ball State students earning their sustainability graduate certificate will automatically become an ISSP member for the duration of their enrollment in Ball State's sustainability certificate program. This membership provides access to an exclusive social network of sustainability professionals, invitations to local events and webinars, and a connection to various professional resources, including job postings.
Program Faculty
Ball State Online faculty are experts in their subject matter, with years of experience in the sustainability field. They have dedicated their academic careers to sustainability and have been part of conservation and sustainability efforts on a personal level.
Admission Requirements
Students must meet the admission requirements for the Ball State Graduate School to be eligible for the program.
