College for Kids Program

The College for Kids program is a summer STEAM program for youth entering 4th-9th grades, offered in two 3-week sessions of fun and learning.

Program Details

• The program offers classes in science, writing, computer technology, engineering, math, performing arts, and more.
• Some of the past classes include coding and robotics, cartooning, slow-motion Lego, 3D printing, chemistry, engineering, algebra, math puzzles, watercolor, and more.
• The camps are conveniently located on both the Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses.

Session Dates and Times

• Session 1: June 9 - June 25
• Session 2: July 7 - July 23
• Session Times: Afternoons, usually 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Program Structure

• Classes are generally held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
• The campus is closed on Fridays and during DVC-observed holidays throughout the summer.

Parent and Student Information

• Parents are encouraged to review the Parent Handbook in advance to ensure a smooth start for their child.
• The Parent Handbook will be available at least two weeks before the start of the summer program.
• Parents are permitted to assist their children in finding their classrooms if needed.
• College for Kids staff will be available to guide and monitor drop-offs and pick-ups.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

• For Pleasant Hill campus families, pick-up zones will be designated for students (alphabetically by last name).
• For San Ramon campus families, drop-off and pick-up will be in front of the roundabout area or in the parking area behind the campus.
• Children must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after their last class ends.

Refund Policy

• To receive a full refund of tuition, classes must be dropped at least 7 days prior to the class start date.
• Refunds may take up to 15 days to be applied.

Campus WiFi Access

• Parents can access the campus WiFi by visiting the designated webpage for more information.

Attendance and Behavioral Policies

• Parents must notify the office of any schedule adjustments or absences.
• Instructors will take roll daily, and any unreported absences will result in a call to the parent/guardian.
• Behavioral issues will be handled on a case-by-case basis, with escalating measures for disruptive or dangerous behavior.
