Master of Science in Nursing Degree (MSN)

Family Nurse Practitioner - Part-Time

The Master of Science in Nursing Degree (MSN) with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner is designed for students enrolled in Fall 2025 and later. All courses in the MSN program are offered in a synchronous online format, unless otherwise noted.

Program Structure

The program is structured into seven semesters, with a specific sequence of courses designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in advanced nursing practice.

  • NUR5000: Transition to Advanced Nursing Practice: Expanded Practice, Communication, and Collaboration (3 credits)
  • MED5000: Advanced Physiology/Pathophysiology (3 credits)

  • NUR5005: Population Health in a Global Society, Legislation and Social Policy (3 credits)
  • MED5005: Advanced Clinical Pharmacology (3 credits)
• Third Semester
  • NUR6000: Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice (3 credits)
  • NUR6010: Advanced Health Assessment and Clinical Reasoning (3 credits)
• Fourth Semester
  • NUR6030: Primary Care for Adolescents and Adult Patients (3 credits)
  • NUR6035: Clinical I: Advanced Practice Nursing in Adolescents and Adults Care (4 credits)
• Fifth Semester
  • NUR6040: Primary Care for Geriatric Patients (3 credits)
  • NUR6045: Clinical II: Advanced Practice Nursing in Geriatric Care (4 credits)
• Sixth Semester
  • NUR6051: Primary Care for Pediatric and Maternal Child Patients (4 credits)
  • NUR6056: Clinical III: Advanced Practice Nursing in Pediatric and Women's Health/Perinatal Care (4 credits)
• Seventh Semester
  • NUR7036: Clinical IV: Advanced Practice Nursing in Family Practice Capstone (3 credits)
  • NUR7037: Advanced Practice Nursing in Family Practice Capstone (3 credits)

Program Requirements

• A total of 46 semester credits are required for graduation.
• The program includes 750 clinical practice hours and simulation training, conducted both on campus and virtually.
