Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM)

The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) at North Park Theological Seminary is a flexible, 36-credit-hour degree (plus three credits of field education) designed for lay people, church staff, and professionals in other fields who want to deepen their understanding of Christian faith and ministry.


Program Description

Through a combination of academic study and practical reflection, this program provides a solid foundation in Bible, Christian history, theology, spiritual formation, and ministry leadership, along with electives tailored to your interests, including Christian education and intercultural engagement. While not designed for ordination, the MACM is ideal for those serving in support roles in the church or for individuals seeking to integrate theological insight into their everyday work, volunteer service, or congregational involvement.

  • Time to Completion: 2 years (full-time) or 3 years (part-time).
  • Ordination: The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry is not designed for ministry ordination.
  • Distance or Local: This program can be completed as a distance, commuter, or residential on-campus student.

Admissions Requirements

  • The prerequisite for entrance to the seminary master's degree or graduate certificate program at North Park Theological Seminary is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • The prerequisite for the dual-degree options is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Application Requirements

The following supplemental items are required:


  1. Recommendations: Each application requires three recommendations: pastor, church committee, and faculty or colleague.
  2. Essay Questions: You will find the essay question prompt and space to upload your answers in the online application.
  3. Official Transcripts: North Park Theological Seminary requires official academic transcripts from each postsecondary institution you have attended.
