The program provides networking opportunities with successful past DBA graduates and business industry leaders, as well as connecting students with potential post-graduate job opportunities. It helps students cultivate skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and research, preparing them for a successful career in various roles, including consultant, entrepreneur, C-level executive, writer/author, or college professor.
Admissions
To apply for the DBA program, students must submit a completed application, unofficial transcripts for all degrees conferred, a resume or curriculum vitae, and a statement of intent. The statement of intent should be a personal statement written by the applicant, providing a sample of their writing quality, motivation for joining the program, and information on their educational and vocational goals.
Program Structure
The DBA program is designed with maximum flexibility for working professionals. It is a three-year program with in-person course meetings once per month for the first two years. Students may choose the 63 credit DBA program with no concentration or choose a concentration option for a total of 75 credits. The program has two phases: the first phase involves completing the core coursework and passing qualifying activities, while the second phase focuses on the dissertation.
Concentrations
The DBA program offers several concentrations, including:
- Accounting and Finance: Prepares students for leadership positions as analysts, managers, or C-suite level executives such as CFO.
- Management: Prepares students for leadership positions as consultants, managers, or C-suite level executives responsible for oversight of an organization.
- Custom Professional Concentration: Allows students to design a concentration to meet their specific goals and interests.
Tracks
The DBA program offers two tracks:
- Academic: Designed for individuals looking to transition their career to teaching at the college level or advance to a better position in the field of higher education.
- Professional: Designed for individuals who wish to apply high-level skills to real-life problem-solving to improve their current organization.
Curriculum

The program includes courses such as Advanced Statistics and Applications, Methodology Behavioral Models, Archival Research Methods, and DBA Colloquium I.
Dissertation
In the third year, students focus on completing their final dissertation project. They can choose between a traditional dissertation, a series of research papers, or a major research project for their organization. Each student works with their dissertation chair to determine the dissertation requirement that is best for them.
Accreditation
The JU Davis College of Business & Technology is the only AACSB accredited private business school in all of North Florida and South Georgia. This accreditation ensures a high level of quality of curriculum, faculty, and the reputation behind the credential.
