College for Kids Program

The College for Kids program provides an enriching, educational, and fun experience for K-8th grade students. This innovative program gives children the chance to expand their horizons by exploring a topic of interest. Children will work with experts to discover talents they never knew they had, explore new ideas and fields of study, and develop a new passion for learning.


Program Details

  • Grades: K-8th
  • Dates: Saturdays, from January 24th - February 21st, 2026
  • Inclement Weather Date: Saturday, February 28th, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM each Saturday
  • Program Fee: $240
  • Location: JMU's King Hall/Engeo Buildings

Course Options

  • Arctic Adventures (K-2nd Grades): Explore the wonders of the Arctic, making snowy scientific creations, participating in chilling challenges, and discovering unique wildlife.
  • Out of This World: Space Adventures (K-2nd Grades): Blast off into a galaxy of fun, exploring planets, stars, and rockets through crafts, experiments, and stories.
  • Storybook Stage: Bringing Tales to Life! (1st-3rd Grades): Step into favorite picture books, using acting, crafts, and movement to bring stories to life.
  • Junior Travelers (1st-3rd Grades): Travel around the world, exploring music, art, food, culture, and traditions of different countries.
  • Magical Makers: Art, Adventure, and a Little Bit of Magic (3rd-5th Grades): Enter the enchanting world of magic and adventure, exploring the magical world of wizards through hands-on crafts and science.
  • 3D Art (3rd-5th Grades): Focus on using different sculpture media, creating unique masterpieces inspired by artists like Jean Tinguely and Yayoi Kusama.
  • Scientists in Training (3rd-5th Grades): Learn about the world of science through fun activities and hands-on experiments, exploring topics like space, the environment, and volcanoes.
  • Design to Reality: Intro to 3D Printing for Young Creators (4th-6th Grades): Introduces students to the world of 3D design and printing, learning the basics of 3D modeling and creating custom-designed objects.
  • Jukebox Juniors (4th-6th Grades): Turn pop songs into musical numbers, covering character work through interactive theatre games and learning basic acting, singing, and choreography.
  • Beginner Olympic Fencing (5th-8th Grades): Learn the basics of fencing, including techniques, tactics, rules, and safety, with activities like instruction, conditioning exercises, and sparring matches.
  • Code Explorers: Discover the World of Computer Science (6th-8th Grades): Uncover the magic behind technology, introducing computer science through fun games, hands-on crafts, and creative coding, exploring logic, creativity, and problem-solving.
