Economics - Master Program
The Master's program in Economics offers an in-depth examination of contemporary economic theories, concepts, and methods, providing advanced skills for economic analysis, application, and research. Through rigorous and research-driven teaching, students will master modern economic theory and advanced tools for data analysis, enabling them to conduct sophisticated economic analyses and econometric studies.
About the Program
The program provides a comprehensive package of knowledge, skills, and research tools essential for understanding and analyzing current and future economic issues. A key feature of the program is the opportunity to specialize in one of the major areas of economics, with a broad range of elective courses (totaling 60 credits) allowing students to tailor their education to their interests. Students will also write two master's theses, providing the opportunity to explore different research questions, methods, and areas, while receiving extensive supervision from engaged teachers.

Study Abroad Opportunities
During the third term, there is an opportunity to study abroad at one of the selected universities offering master's-level courses in economics. In some cases, the fourth term may also be an option. Applications for exchange studies are made during the second term of the program.

There is a broad labor market for economists, both nationally and internationally. The demand for economists with a master's degree is relatively stable over time or increasing. Graduates will be qualified for advanced positions in both the private and public sectors. Former students have found employment in government agencies, large companies, the financial sector, private research centers, the health sector, and many international institutions, such as central banks, government departments, OECD, EU, World Bank, development organizations, economic consulting firms, financial organizations, and international companies. The program also prepares students well for doctoral studies.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (at least 180 credits) with at least 60 credits in economics, including courses in microeconomics and econometrics (quantitative methods) at an advanced level or equivalent courses acquired otherwise. English 6/B.
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on merits from previous university studies. Particular weight is given to grades in courses that are especially important as prerequisites for the program. No program-specific documents (such as CV or letters of recommendation) are required to apply to this program.
Tuition Fees
- Free of charge for citizens within the EU.
- Total program fee for non-EU citizens: 300,000 SEK.
- First payment: 75,000 SEK.
- An application fee of 900 SEK is required for non-EU citizens when applying via UniversityAdmissions.se.
