Mathematics: Mathematics and Statistics

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an option in mathematics and statistics gives students the opportunity to focus on statistics, industrial mathematics, or computational mathematics. This program allows students to use math to solve business challenges across various industries.

As a mathematics and statistics major, students will focus on calculus, discrete mathematics, probability, and statistics, complementing the theoretical and applied components chosen by students. The program provides opportunities to:

• Work closely with qualified, diverse faculty who prepare students for a variety of careers in business and industry.
• Earn real-world experience working with the Applied Statistics Center to analyze real-world data sets and through internship opportunities with corporations in metropolitan areas such as St. Louis and Memphis.
• Present research with faculty at professional conferences.
• Be prepared to enter graduate school.
