The Business Advancement for Small Enterprises (BASE) program is a 10-month entrepreneurship program designed to provide training, mentorship, and resources to aspiring Boston area entrepreneurs in economically challenged areas. The program aims to help entrepreneurs launch and grow successful businesses.
Program Overview
The BASE program is a dynamic network of faculty, mentors, and students that support entrepreneurs in turning their business dreams into reality. The program consists of three phases: a six-week business bootcamp, a four-month mentorship program, and a three-month student consulting engagement.
Program Phases
- Business Incubation (6 weeks): A bootcamp where entrepreneurs learn core business fundamentals, including business planning, marketing, financial literacy, operations, and access to funding.
- Mentorship Program (4 months): Entrepreneurs are paired with experienced local business leaders, Suffolk alumni, and subject matter experts who provide mentorship and help navigate real-world challenges.
- Student Consulting Engagement (3 months): Entrepreneurs work directly with students to implement the lessons learned during the incubation and mentorship phases.
Program Details
The BASE program is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs who face difficult circumstances. The program provides:
- A six-week business bootcamp that meets on Saturdays
- Eight hours of personal mentoring
- Hands-on student consulting
- A workbook included
Eligibility and Application
- Who Can Apply?: Anyone aged 18 or older with a business idea or existing venture.
- Application Details: The application window is open, and the program fee is $750. Fee waivers are available for those who request one.
Program Benefits
The BASE program provides a step-by-step roadmap for launching a business, practical and proven strategies, and access to business expertise and funding resources. The program is built on a collaboration between Suffolk University's Sawyer Business School and local partners.
