Curriculum and Assessment

The school evaluates student achievement of learning outcomes, student satisfaction with learning, completion rates, employment rates, and NCLEX pass rates each semester. The curriculum committee reviews courses at least every three years to ensure that the courses accurately measure the student learning outcomes.

Assessment Plan

The school uses a systematic plan of evaluation to assess student learning outcomes. The plan includes:

  • Signature Assignments (SAs) that are administered during the last two semesters of the program.
  • A self-chosen goal of 85% of students achieving a passing score (80% or higher) on the SAs.
  • Faculty assessment of student learning through assignment grading rubrics.
  • Student self-assessment of their ability to meet each of the student learning outcomes through an end-of-program survey.

Timeline

Student learning is assessed each semester, and data is collected and reviewed at the conclusion of each semester. The faculty meets annually to assess the full year's worth of student perceptions through survey data and to discuss the results of the signature assignments.

Faculty Engagement

The faculty is actively involved in the assessment process, with each faculty member grading the signature assignments using the same grading rubric to ensure consistency. The faculty reviews the data results each semester and documents the results in an end-of-semester report. The faculty also meets annually to assess the data and signature assignments at the end of each year.
