Introduction to the 3D Animation & VFX Program
The 3D Animation & VFX Program at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge required to succeed in the field of 3D animation and visual effects. This intensive program is offered at the Los Angeles campus and is available as a one-year conservatory-based, full-time program.
Program Overview
The 1-Year 3D Animation & VFX Program is designed to teach students the fundamental aspects of animation and VFX. Students work under the guidance of experienced faculty who have worked on projects for major studios, including Disney, Dreamworks, Universal, and Netflix. The program covers a range of topics, including:
- Visual effects and advanced modeling techniques
- Preparing a template for an animated movie or sequence
- Working with state-of-the-art equipment and industry-standard software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Nuke, Maya, Motion Builder, Mudbox, and ZBrush
- 3D Animation subjects, including:
- Screenwriting
- Storyboard
- Character Design
- Drawing and Anatomy
- Acting for Animation
- Lighting
- Materials
- Textures
- Animation

- 3D Modeling and Sculpture

Program Details
The 1-Year 3D Animation & VFX Program is a three-semester program that leads to a college credit-bearing Certificate. Qualified students who complete the 1-Year Certificate may also apply to have their coursework accepted for advanced standing in the BFA or MFA in 3D Animation & VFX degree program.
Projects
During the program, students work on a variety of animation projects, including a final project that showcases a primary area of interest, such as modeling, animation, VFX, or a combination thereof. Adequate time is made available for students to finish final projects and demonstrate a mastery of their particular area of interest.

The 1-Year 3D Animation & VFX Program is available at NYFA's Los Angeles campus.
Tuition and Fees
The program's tuition and fees are as follows:
- Tuition: $19,500 per semester
- Departmental Program Fee: $1,500 per semester
- Technology Fee: $80 per semester
- Wellness Services & Programming Fee: $145 per semester
- Activity Fee: $125 per semester
- Orientation Fee: $150 (domestic students), $200 (international students)
- Graduation Fee: $100
- International Student Fee: $200 (first semester), $120 (each subsequent semester)
