LLM International Business and Commercial Law

The LLM International Business and Commercial Law program is designed to provide students with the legal knowledge and skills to adapt to a rapidly changing international business climate. About the Program

The program focuses on teaching students how legal processes really work, with learning contextualized in the lifecycle of an international business. Students develop specialist legal skills and knowledge aligned to the future of international business, exploring critical topics such as legal technology, innovation, and sustainability.

Entry Requirements

  • 2:2 in a degree from a UK university or an internationally recognized university, in law or a related area of study, or a degree in which there is a substantial proportion of study devoted to law
  • 2:2 degree in a non-legal area of study, provided there is sufficient evidence of professional knowledge and experience
  • For the avoidance of doubt, call to the bar or admission as a solicitor in England and Wales or the equivalent in another jurisdiction may be considered equivalent

English Language Requirements

To study at BPP, it is essential that students can communicate and engage in English effectively in an academic setting. If English is not the first language, students will be required to provide proof of their ability across reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English.

  • Course length: Full-time (12 months), Part-time (18 months with Professional Development Planning)

  • Qualification: Master of Laws in International Business and Commercial Law (12 months) or Master of Laws in International Business and Commercial Law with PDP (18 months)

Course Structure

The program is divided into three stages, each covering key areas of international business and commercial law. The stages include:


  • Stage One (60 credits): International Commercial Legal Practice, International Business Law, International Intellectual Property Law
  • Stage Two (60 credits): International Contracts and Trade Law, International Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
  • Stage Three (60 credits): Professional Skills, Organisational Strategy and Sustainability, Professional Research Project
  • Professional Development Programme (18-month program only): This includes workshops, job role analysis, CV development, interview preparation, work experience, and one-to-one coaching sessions.

The program is available at the London South (Waterloo) study center, with start dates in February, April, and June. The course length is 12 months for full-time study and 18 months for full-time study with Professional Development Planning.

  • Fees for the academic year: £18,100.00 for the 12-month program and £22,700.00 for the 18-month program at London South (Waterloo)
  • A deposit of £350 is required within 48 hours of accepting the offer to secure a place.
  • Funding options include postgraduate loan funding for domestic UK students, interest-free payment plans, and a dedicated scholarship fund.
