Online Bachelor of Education (Elementary) After Degree Program

The University of Regina's Online Bachelor of Education After Degree (Elementary) program is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree and wish to become teachers in Saskatchewan. This program is approved by the Saskatchewan Teachers' Professional Regulatory Board and meets all requirements for Teacher Certification in the province.


Program Overview

The program builds a strong foundation in the realities of school life and supports the development of thoughtful, engaged educators. Students gain professional knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to thrive in today's diverse classrooms. With flexible online coursework and field placements arranged near the student's location, individuals can stay connected to their community while preparing for a rewarding teaching career.


Program Details

  • The program takes two years to complete on a full-time basis.
  • Accreditation is provided by the Saskatchewan Teacher's Professional Regulatory Board.
  • The program is offered through the University of Regina's Faculty of Education.

Coursework

Some courses included in the program are:


  • ECE 325 - Experiential Learning for Young Children: Planning, organizing, and evaluating learner-centered curriculum and environments for young children.
  • ECS 101 - Education for Justice: Knowledge, Schooling and Society: Introduction to the foundations of teaching, including politics of education, ethical relationality, teacher identity and professionalism.
  • ECCU 400 - Treaties in the Classroom: Historical basis, connection to Saskatchewan curriculum, and practical approach to the study and teaching of the Treaties between the First Nations people and the Crown.
  • ECS 495 - Curriculum and Pedagogy: Examining curriculum and instructional methods, including generic and subject-specific instructional strategies for K-12.

Admission Requirements

  • Admission to the program is offered for the Fall term only, with a priority application deadline of March 15.
  • Applicants must meet the Faculty of Education admission requirements.
  • Preference is given to applicants who live more than 100 km from Regina or Saskatoon.
  • Applicants will be notified of admission decisions in early May.

Program Structure

  • The program can be completed on a part-time basis, with students taking 3-5 courses per term considered full-time.
  • Field placements are arranged as close as possible to the student's home community, typically within 100 km of their residence.
  • A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (CRC VSS) is required for each field experience.
