Diploma of Business (Enterprise)

The Diploma of Business (Enterprise) at Victoria University is designed to provide students with a broad introduction to the industry and a range of skills relevant to working in the business sector. This course will give students foundation skills in accounting, management, marketing, economics, communications, and information technology.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Review and integrate a range of fundamental business theories in the analysis of contemporary business problems in domestic and international contexts
• Employ appropriate business tools to support decision-making and project planning in general business contexts
• Assess the impact of a range of common contemporary external and internal social, structural, cultural, technological, and ethical factors on effective business practices
• Work collaboratively in teams to develop skills required for analysis, planning, designing, prioritizing, and evaluating effective approaches and solutions to a range of common business problems
• Explain ideas and perspectives clearly and coherently using verbal, written, and visual modes of delivery appropriate for audiences in general business contexts
• Develop increased personal awareness, self-motivation, and adaptability in readiness to engage in a range of business environments
• Demonstrate developing skills of self-directed learning, academic literacy, and numeracy, interpersonal communication, and emerging professional skills

Course Structure

To attain the Diploma of Business (Enterprise), students will be required to complete 96 credit points. The course structure includes:

  • Financial Literacy and Decision Making (Unit code: VBE1008, Credits: 12)
  • Economic Concepts and Application (Unit code: VBE1009, Credits: 12)
  • Marketing Theory and Practice (Unit code: VBE1010, Credits: 12)
  • People and Organisations (Unit code: VBE1011, Credits: 12)
  • Business Data Analytics and Visualisation (Unit code: VBE1012, Credits: 12)
  • My Business Future (Unit code: VBE1013, Credits: 12)
  • Ethics and Sustainability (Unit code: VBE1014, Credits: 12)

Entry Requirements

Applicants for this course will need to meet the entry criteria outlined below. If you don't meet the entry criteria, you may be able to gain entry by first completing a related course or unit(s).

• Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent)
• IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score of 5.5 (with no band less than 5.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
• Completion of an International Foundation course or equivalent

Fees and Scholarships

• Fee type: International
• Fees for full-time international student (2026): AU$16,500 per semester
• International students are required to pay full tuition fees up front each semester
• Victoria University offers scholarships to support international students, including the VU Block Model International Scholarship, which offers eligible international students up to 30% off tuition fees for their entire first year of study

"Pathways" allow you to progress to a higher qualification while recognizing your completed study. Often this means you can complete your next qualification more quickly. Once you have completed this course, you will be guaranteed entry into the following course(s) - and in some cases receive credit points for your study.
