Introduction to the Bachelor of Applied Information Technology

The Bachelor of Applied Information Technology is a 3-year NZQA Level 7 degree offered by Whitecliffe, specializing in Network Engineering and Security or Software and Web Development. This program is designed to produce industry-ready graduates with a systemic and coherent understanding of Information Technology.

Program Details

• The degree is accredited by IT Professionals New Zealand and is part of the Seoul Accord, granting graduates an internationally recognized qualification.
• The program includes two specializations: Network Engineering and Security, and Software and Web Development.
• Graduates will develop knowledge and understanding that they can apply in the workplace and prepare them for IT professional body membership and certification.

Specializations

• Network Engineering and Security: This specialization enables students to troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks on advanced security, voice, wireless, and video solutions. Students will plan, configure, install, and verify the implementation of complex enterprise switched and routed networks using current network architecture.
• Software and Web Development: This specialization allows students to design, develop, and maintain software applications, web and mobile solutions, and related technologies. Students will critically evaluate and implement solutions for software and web-related environments.

Admission Requirements

• Applicants must turn 17 within their first year of study at Whitecliffe.
• Applicants must have achieved NCEA Level 3 or above and 20 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above, including:
  • 14 credits each in three approved subjects, and
  • UE Literacy (NCEA Level 2 or above; 10 credits with 5 credits each in reading and writing), and
  • UE Numeracy (NCEA Level 1 or above; 10 credits)
• Alternatively, applicants can have a relevant qualification at Level 3 on the NZQF or above and the equivalent of UE Literacy and Numeracy.
• International applicants must turn 18 within their first year of study at Whitecliffe, have achieved an IELTS Academic overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent, and meet New Zealand visa entry requirements.

Tuition Fees

• Domestic: $7,993 + $300 Student Services Levy
• International: $19,500 + $300 Student Services Levy
• Fees indicated are for the 1st year of study, and 2nd and 3rd-year fees may vary.

• The program duration is 3 years, full-time.
