Introduction to the IB Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year program designed for students aged 16 to 18. It is a highly prized diploma that opens doors to prestigious degree programs around the world. The IBDP pushes students to excel academically, socially, and personally, developing key skills valued by top universities and employers.

The IB Diploma Explained

The IBDP is a comprehensive program that requires students to study six subject groups:

• Language and Literature
• Language Acquisition
• Individuals and Societies
• Sciences
• Mathematics
• Creative Arts Three of these subject groups are taken at a higher level, and three at a standard level. In addition to these subjects, students must also complete the core program, which consists of:
  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): a course that explores critical thinking and gives students an understanding of how we learn
  • The Extended Essay: a 4,000-word independent research project focusing on a specific subject
  • Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS): a range of activities that develop students' creative skills and wellbeing, and support the local community

This ensures that every lesson, activity, and experience inspires each student and helps them achieve IBDP success.

University Pathways

The IBDP gives students the best possible chance to flourish, whatever they choose to be or do in the future. In 2022, every one of our IBDP graduates was accepted by their first-choice university, with destinations including University College London, the University of British Columbia, Purdue University, and Yonsei University.
