Digital Media Engineering and Technology Program

About

The Digital Media Engineering and Technology (DMET) program is a range of degree programs developed in response to industry demand for graduate engineers with the skills to develop digital technologies for audio-visual content production and delivery. The program focuses on providing students with the skills to develop digital technologies, including virtual reality, interactive television, and broadband wireless networks.

Degrees

The Faculty of Media Engineering and Technology offers an International Bachelor program in Digital Media Engineering and Technology, which consists of 8 semesters and takes four years to complete. The degree issued is a Bachelor of Science in Media Engineering and Technology. The international bachelor enables students to enter an International Master Program. The International Master program consists of three semesters, and the degree issued is a Master of Science in Media Engineering and Technology.

According to the law in Egypt, demanding at least 10 semesters as a requirement for the Egyptian Bachelor in Engineering, a student can get the Egyptian Bachelor after another year of study after the International Bachelor program. This year is considered to be the first year (2 terms) in the study program towards getting the International Master.

Accreditation

The Faculty of Media Engineering and Technology at the German University in Cairo received accreditation from the Accreditation Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN) for both Bachelor and Master programs on September 19, 2006.

Curriculum

The Digital Media Engineering and Technology Curriculum provides students with both sets of skills to meet the new demands to be fully accredited engineers with an understanding not only of advanced media hardware and software systems but also with the knowledge and appreciation of how these systems can be used by media practitioners in dynamic and creative ways.
