Young Arts | Holiday Club Art & Design - Summer 2026

Course Duration

  • 4 days

Overview

Arts University Plymouth's Young Arts programme was established in 1988. This initiative encompasses the university's esteemed Saturday Arts Clubs and has been instrumental in addressing the decline in arts education for young people, which has resulted from increasingly limited access to creative activities in schools.

In this creative Art & Design holiday club, participants will engage in the creation of multiple artworks to take home, while also learning various Art, Textiles, Printmaking, and Photography techniques. Attendees will collaborate with three tutors over four days, and their work will be showcased in a digitized exhibition.

Schedule of Activities

During the course, participants will experience various artistic endeavors, including:

  • Sculpting a 3D ceramic head/face from clay
  • Drawing & painting: developing paintings and digitizing the outcomes
  • Creative drawing inspired by specific locations
  • A mini project in DSLR photography
  • Fashion or Games design - creating mood boards
  • Designing and making paper clothing
  • Additional creative activities as scheduled

All completed works will be taken home at the conclusion of the program, alongside opportunities for presentation in a digital exhibition.

Target Age Groups

  • 9-11 years
  • 12-16 years

The activities will vary in complexity to engage participants of all experience levels.
