Course Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
Pre-requisite Requirements
Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

Mode of Delivery
This program is delivered and assessed through a combination of classroom-based learning, simulated industry workplace activities, and supervised online study. Learners are also expected to complete approximately 10 hours per week of unsupervised study, including reading, research, and revision of previous lessons.

Entry Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.
- Prospective students may be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and/or a pre-enrolment interview.
- Must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification from Lead College or another institute with similar elective or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
- Must demonstrate English level of IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent, such as:
- IBT 60
- PTE 50
- CAE 169
- OET B
- General English Advanced or equivalent
- MOI Certificate
- Duolingo 95
- MET
- LANGUAGECERT Academic
- CELPIP General
- Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
- Must have basic digital literacy, including the ability to confidently use the internet and common software applications for learning purposes, completing assignments, and engaging with course content.
- Must be able to participate in training within a simulated workplace environment, including performing manual handling tasks.

Assessment Types
Written Questions or Report
Students will complete written assessments to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts, procedures, and industry standards relevant to the course content.

Case Study

Award Requirements
Students will need to successfully complete all units in this course to receive a certificate of AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (Superseded). Learners who partially complete the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they are deemed competent.

Lead College recognises qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations (RTOs), unless restricted by licensing requirements. We offer Credit Transfer for completed units or subjects that match those in your course.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows you to have your existing skills and knowledge gained through work, life experience, or unaccredited training formally recognised.
Unique Student Identifier (USI) Requirement
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is needed for all students studying with Lead College, which is available online and at no cost. The USI will remain with the student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is completed.

Relevant resources are available to ensure that students settle in well, smoothly transit life in new places, and achieve the required level of competency in all accredited courses.
Orientation
Orientation assists students and is provided as an age and culturally appropriate program. Attendance is mandatory, and students will be permitted to attend classes only after completing the orientation session for the enrolled courses.

After completing AUR40226 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, students may progress to AUR50126 Diploma of Automotive Management.
