Course Description
This qualification outlines the skills and understanding necessary for an advanced tradesperson in the metalworking, engineering, manufacturing, and related fields. Individuals can directly pursue this certification without prerequisite qualifications. However, it is expected that learners are either apprentices enrolled in an Australian Apprenticeship scheme or existing tradespersons with access to structured training. This qualification is not intended as a pre-employment or pre-apprenticeship program; its primary objective is to encompass necessary competencies and knowledge for individuals employed as Engineering/Manufacturing Tradespersons Special Class Level II.
Currently, there are no mandatory licensing or certification requirements for this certification. However, in certain jurisdictions, individual units within this qualification may require obtaining a license.

Entry Requirements
The following are the admission requirements of ISMT:
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.
- Prospective students may be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and/or a pre-enrolment interview.
- Must have completed Australian Year 11 or an equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate III or higher qualification from an Australian institution.
- Must demonstrate an English level of IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent, including tests such as:
- IBT 60
- PTE 50
- CAE 169
- OET B
- General English Advanced or equivalent
- Duolingo 95
- MET
- LANGUAGECERT Academic
- CELPIP General
- Certificate IV or higher qualification from an Australian institution.
- Must possess basic digital literacy, including the ability to use the internet and common software applications for learning purposes.
- Must be able to participate in training within a simulated workplace environment, including performing manual handling tasks.
