Bachelor of Commerce / Design

The Bachelor of Commerce / Design is a double-degree program that can be completed in 4 full-time years or the part-time equivalent. Through this program, students will gain essential business knowledge and professional experience, as well as design skills that can be applied across diverse contexts.


Program Structure

The program consists of 32 courses, making up 192 Units of Credit (UOC). Students will complete 16 courses for Commerce and 16 courses for Design. The program includes:


  • Commerce Integrated First Year Courses
  • One Commerce major
  • One Design specialisation
  • Three Design collaboration studio courses
  • Professional development courses and experiences, such as:
    • Professional practice courses
    • Final Year Synthesis
    • Design Capstone
    • myBCom a digital portfolio that includes a personal career plan

Entry Requirements

Entry to this degree is based on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or an equivalent rank derived from other qualifications. The 2025 Lowest Selection Rank is 94.0.


Admission Pathways

If students do not meet the requirements for direct entry, they may be eligible for a pathway program with UNSW College. UNSW College provides alternative entry options using university-approved content.


English Language Requirements

Students may be asked to provide evidence of their English proficiency to study at UNSW, depending on their educational background and citizenship.

  • Fashion

Industrial Design

Industrial designers influence lifestyles by designing daily products, systems, and services that people use. Students will prepare for an industrial design career with experience and confidence, exploring practical studio classes and theoretical courses in manufacturing, materials, sustainability, user empathy, and design research.


Computational Design

Computational design takes a different approach, resolving design challenges with cutting-edge technologies. Students will use various computer languages to encode decisions and test ideas, developing unique and in-demand skills, including 3D modelling, digital geometry, parametric design, responsive environments, and form-making.

Fees and Scholarships

The 2026 indicative first-year full fee for domestic students is $14,000, and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $53,500. For international students, the 2026 indicative first-year fee is $52,500, and the indicative fee to complete the degree is $233,500.
