Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills, and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgment in planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organizational or enterprise requirements.


Course Duration

This qualification will be delivered over 52 weeks, including 36 weeks of training and assessment spread over 4 terms of 9 weeks and 16 weeks of holidays.


Delivery Mode and Location

This course will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting, which includes the simulation of a workplace-based environment, as well as structured online study. The course is delivered at 196E Forest Road, Hurstville NSW 2220.


Entry Requirements

International students must:


  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
  • Have an IELTS score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
    • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
    • Completed at least 6 months of a minimum Certificate III level or higher course in an Australian RTO or education institute; or
    • Successful completion of an English Placement Test or evidence of undertaking a relevant ELICOS program.

Course Structure

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management requires the successful completion of six (6) core units and six (6) elective units. Units included in this qualification are:


  • BSBCMM511: Communicate with influence (Core, 75 hrs)
  • BSBCRT511: Develop critical thinking in others (Core, 100 hrs)
  • BSBLDR523: Lead and manage effective workplace relationships (Core, 50 hrs)
  • BSBOPS502: Manage business operational plans (Core, 100 hrs)
  • BSBPEF502: Develop and use emotional intelligence (Core, 75 hrs)
  • BSBTWK502: Manage team effectiveness (Elective, 50 hrs)
  • BSBOPS504: Manage business risk (Elective, 75 hrs)
  • BSBOPS505: Manage organizational customer service (Elective, 75 hrs)
  • BSBPEF501: Manage personal and professional development (Elective, 50 hrs)
  • BSBPMG430: Undertake project work (Elective, 100 hrs)
  • BSBSTR502: Facilitate continuous improvement (Elective, 50 hrs)
  • BSBTWK503: Manage meetings (Elective, 100 hrs)

Enrolment and Orientation

Upon acceptance of a student's application for enrolment, a letter of offer, as well as a written agreement, will be forwarded to students. Students must read through all provided information as it will provide all necessary information about the course of study.


Course Credit

Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning).


Additional Support

All students will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency, including academic and personal support, and referral to external support services.


Training Arrangements

Students are required to attend classes for 13.5 hours a week and complete 6.5 hours of structured online study per week. In addition to this, students are also required to complete approximately 5 hours of additional study per week comprising general reading and research for assessments.


Assessment Arrangements

Assessment methods used for this qualification will provide a range of ways for individuals to demonstrate that they have met the required outcomes, including projects, presentations, report writing, observations, and questioning (oral or written).

For students to complete the course, they will need a laptop that meets the following specifications:


Windows

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Processor: Intel or AMD processor with 64-bit support; 2 GHz or faster processor
    • Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 with Service pack 1 (64-bit), Windows 10 (Version 1709 or later)
    • RAM: 8 GB or more of RAM (8 GB recommended)
    • Hard disk space: 3.1 GB or more of available hard-disk space for 64-bit installation; additional free space required during installation
    • Monitor resolution: 1024 x 768 display (1280×800 recommended) with 16-bit color and 512 MB or more of dedicated VRAM; 2 GB is recommended
    • Graphics processor acceleration requirements: OpenGL 2.0-capable system
    • Internet: Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services

    • Operating system: MacOS version 10.12 (Sierra), macOS version 10.13 (High Sierra), or macOS version 10.14 (Mojave)
    • RAM: 8 GB or more of RAM (8 GB recommended)
    • Hard disk space: 4 GB or more of available hard-disk space for 64-bit installation; additional free space required during installation
    • Monitor resolution: 1024 x 768 display (1280×800 recommended) with 16-bit color and 512 MB or more of dedicated VRAM; 2 GB is recommended
    • Graphics processor acceleration requirements: OpenGL GL 2.0-capable system
