Master of Finance Program

The Master of Finance (MFin) degree is a professional program that places significant emphasis on data analysis skills, which are increasingly crucial in the finance industry. Students will learn to analyze financial data, identify trends and patterns, and make informed investment decisions using data-driven approaches.

Program Details

• The MFin program offers both full-time and part-time delivery options.
• The full-time program is completed over 16 months, while the part-time program is completed over 24 months.
• The program does not require work experience for entry, but it includes an internship.

Tuition Fees

• Domestic students: $35,000
• International students: $61,500 (miscellaneous fees not included)

Application Deadlines

• Round 1: January 1
• Round 2: March 1 (final deadline for international applicants)
• Round 3: May 1

Program Structure

Full-time Stream

The full-time stream is completed over four consecutive terms of study on campus in Ottawa. Students are enrolled in the program for all four terms, with the fourth term dedicated to an internship and one accompanying online course.

Part-time Stream

The part-time stream is delivered in the evenings over 24 months and begins in the Fall term. All courses are delivered on campus in Ottawa.

CFA Program Focus

The MFin program belongs to the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program, and course content covers the CFA Institute Chartered Financial Analyst Candidate Body of Knowledge in depth. Sprott Master of Finance graduates will be prepared to pursue a CFA designation upon completion of their coursework.

Pathway to Financial Modeling Accreditation

MFin students gain in-demand skills in financial modeling through an academic partnership with the Financial Modeling Institute (FMI). MFin students have free access to FMI's Foundations in Financial Modeling Program and, upon completion, can access the Advanced Financial Modeler accreditation program at a discounted price.

Career Development and Internship

Full-time MFin students will have access to Sprott's dedicated career advisors for support with job search, employer connections, professional development workshops, and more. During the final term of the program, full-time MFin students will complete a 16-week internship to build professional finance experience.

Program Journey

The Master of Finance is a full-time program that is delivered in person at Carleton University. MFin courses equip students with a deep knowledge of investment analysis, investment management, risk management, sustainable finance, ESG, and applied data analysis.

MFin students have the opportunity to take part in the Sprott Student Investment Fund, a real investment portfolio with assets valued at more than $2 million. A team of top Sprott students actively manage the fund's assets to build value, manage risk, and invest responsibly.
