Introduction to the Teacher Training Program

The Training Course for Teachers of English is specifically designed for non-native secondary school teachers who possess a minimum English proficiency level of Upper-Intermediate. This comprehensive course is carefully crafted by our dedicated Teacher Training department with the primary goal of helping educators enhance their English language skills while also broadening their teaching methodologies.

• 25 hours per week: 09.00-13.15 Monday-Friday and 14.00-15.15 Monday-Thursday

Theory/Practice

Develop a solid understanding of the cognitive processes involved in creating successful communicative English language lessons. This section of the course will focus on the essential "thinking" that teachers need to apply when designing lessons that promote effective communication among students. You will learn to transform these theoretical insights into practical strategies for the classroom, enabling you to create engaging lessons that encourage interaction and enhance the overall learning experience.

Planning

Learn how to effectively plan a language lesson by using a structured approach that incorporates logical stages to benefit your teaching. This part of the course will provide you with essential tools for lesson planning, ensuring that each component of your lesson is cohesive and purposeful. You will discover how to set clear objectives, integrate diverse activities, and adapt your plans to meet the varying needs of your students. By mastering these planning techniques, you will enhance your teaching practice and deliver lessons that are both informative and enjoyable for your students.

• Course Books: Empower Series from Cambridge University Press with validated Assessment from Cambridge English Language Assessment (CELA)
• No Summer Supplements: We do not charge supplements on courses or accommodation during Summer
• Tuition Hours: 1 hour/lesson = 60 minutes
• Bildungsurlaub Students: In addition to the 25 hours of English classes, students have the option to take part in 5 hours extra per week of social, cultural and political classes in the afternoons.
• Apollo GO Goals and Objectives: 1-1 tutorials half-way through their programme or monthly for long-term courses and again at the end of the course to ensure that the student's individual goals are being reached.

Accommodation

Accommodation is offered in brand new city centre student apartments in single bedrooms with private bathrooms within walking distance of the school for students aged 18+ as well as host family accommodation located in the suburbs of Dublin for students aged 16+.
