Master of Arts in Teaching Program
The Master of Arts in Teaching program at the University of La Verne is designed to prepare students to become educators who can shape the future of California's youth, families, and communities. Admission Requirements

- Completed admission application and application fee
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a preferred GPA of 2.75 or above in undergraduate work and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in any graduate work
- Statement of purpose
- Two letters of recommendation from individuals qualified to objectively evaluate the candidate's potential to be a competent educator
- Basic Skills Requirement (CBEST or equivalent)
- Current TB clearance
- Current Certificate of Clearance
Credential Options
The program offers several credential options, including:
- Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
- Single Subject Teaching Credential
- Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Preliminary Credential
- Dual Credential
Enhanced Intern Credential
Students who complete the first semester of courses and other prerequisites may be eligible to apply for an Enhanced Intern Credential, which allows them to work as a paid intern in a public school while they finish their teaching credential.
Bilingual Added Authorization in Spanish
The University of La Verne offers a Bilingual Added Authorization in Spanish, which allows graduates to work in dual immersion classrooms. This authorization is available with the Multiple Subject Teaching, Single Subject Teaching, and Mild/Moderate Education Specialist credentials.

The cost per unit for the program is $835 for the La Verne campus and $775 for regional campuses. The University of La Verne offers a special rate for members of the military and their spouses, and partnerships with more than 100 corporations and government agencies that may subsidize tuition.
