Introduction to the Physician Assistant Program
The Physician Assistant program at Gannon University is a five-year Master of Physician Assistant Science program that has been educating physician assistants for over 40 years. - PA Program graduates will have a first-time PANCE pass rate at or above the national average.
- Graduation rates for Master of Physician Assistant Science degree students will be at or above the national average reported by the Physician Assistant Education Association.
- PA Program graduates' job placement/residency or fellowship placement rates will be 100% one year following graduation.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Physician Assistant Program, students will be able to:
- Perform a complete and accurate history and physical examination; identify abnormal findings and develop an appropriate differential diagnosis.
- Develop a plan of evaluation in support of the differential diagnosis, including specialized diagnostic imaging, and pathologic modalities.
- Develop a treatment plan consisting of surgical and medical interventions through analysis of clinical and laboratory data.
- Accurately relate the clinical data to the health care team, forming a collaborative effort to assure maximal patient benefit through a multiple disciplinary approach.
- Show proficiency in performing clinical skills.
- Identify characteristics of professional and ethical conduct for the Physician Assistant profession.
- Synthesize theory and research in order to provide advanced care to patients.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 16 academic units at the high school level, four of which must be English; four in social sciences, at least two units of math.
- A minimum of two units of science, including general biology and chemistry with grades of B's or higher.
- Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.
- Satisfactory recommendation from high school counselor or principal.
- Academic course performance with emphasis on science courses, grades (a minimum GPA of 3.4) and performance on oral and written interviews will be considered for admissions decisions.
Admission Process
The admission process for the Physician Assistant program is highly competitive, with only 58 seats available for each incoming freshman class. To be fully considered for admission, students must submit their application by November 15 of the year prior to enrollment. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in one of five scheduled interview days.

The estimated costs for students in the 5-Year Master of Physician Assistant (PA) Program are as follows:

Additional Expenses
In addition to tuition and fees, students should expect the following costs during the accredited phase of the program:
- Medical equipment and white lab coats: $800-$1200
- Laptop: $800-$1200
- Hospitals and other facilities require students to undergo criminal record history checks and child abuse clearances: approximately $20 each
- Travel, parking, and living expenses throughout the clinical year: approximately $1500/month
