International Business Law Diploma with LLM Pathway

Overview

The International Business Law Diploma is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of various branches of law, both within the UK and internationally. This program aims to develop an analytical and critical approach to the application of legal principles, preparing students to tackle complex legal challenges in a global business environment. The diploma part of the course consists of 120 credit hours, equipping students with the skills and insights necessary to navigate and influence the ever-evolving landscape of international business law. Upon completion of the diploma, students have the opportunity to pursue the LLM Top-Up in International Business Law. This advanced qualification builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the diploma. Students will apply the skills learnt in the Legal Research Methods module to conduct rigorous research and complete a comprehensive dissertation. The LLM Top-Up consists of 60 credit hours and culminates in earning a Master of Laws (LLM) award from one of our partner universities. This pathway enhances expertise in specific areas of law, focusing on modern issues and deepening understanding of complex legal challenges in the global business environment.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the qualification, learners will be able to:

• Understand a range of subjects in international business law.
• Develop an understanding of the legal frameworks that govern international business transactions within the industry.
• Demonstrate an understanding of commercial trust law, company law, international trade law, intellectual property law, and the law of financial crimes.
• Develop research skills and the ability to write on key areas in law.

Requirements

• Students need to be 21 years plus
• Student must hold an honours degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification
• English Language: Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51, IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5. (Alternatively, gain an LanguageCert (ESOL) qualification from our college)

Accreditation

This course is accredited by OTHM, a UK based awarding body regulated by Ofqual.

Equivalences

The OTHM Level 7 diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are at the same level as master’s degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) and learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with a university partner to achieve a full master’s programme.

Qualification Structure

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in International Business Law qualification consists of 6 mandatory units making a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Progressions

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in International Business Law qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study. As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), where appropriate learners are eligible to progress to Master’s top-up at many universities in the UK and overseas with advanced standing.

Course Length

• Fast track: 3 – 6 months (online and in person)
• Standard: 6 – 11 months (online)
• LLM top-up: 4-6 months

Delivery Method

The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, and online learning. Learners can choose the mode of study as per their choice and convenience.

Assessment

Assessment is via assignment submission only and no exam involved.
