Piano for Beginners Level 4

This course is designed for advanced beginners who are familiar with the notes of the keyboard, have prior understanding of note reading, and experience with basic technical work and piano pieces in varying hand positions.

Course Details

• Duration: 8 weeks
• Time: 6pm - 8pm (UTC+11:00)
• Location: Room 1034 - Keyboard Lab, Sydney Conservatorium of Music
• Fee: $580.00 (inc GST), with an early bird discount of $510.40 (expires 12 Jan 2026)

Course Content

The course will cover aspects of learning the piano, including:

• Understanding keys and how they relate to one another using the cycle of 5ths
• Technical development through exercises
• Artistic use of the sustain and una corda pedals
• Basic chord symbol reading and application
• Basic aural perception
• Exploration of popular music and music from film and TV with a dash of classical

Requirements

• Completion of Level 3 - Piano for Beginners, or proficiency in note reading and prior experience with basic piano music of varying keys and hand positions.
• Students should bring a display folder for storing handouts, a note pad, pencil, and eraser.
