Program Overview
The 2025 Continuing Education in Sustainability and Green Transition for High School Teachers is a comprehensive, research-based program designed to equip teachers with the latest knowledge on sustainability. The program aims to support teachers in incorporating sustainability into their teaching practices, enabling them to better engage their students in sustainability and green transition.
Program Structure
The program consists of three modules, each lasting two days, and takes place on the following dates:
- Module 1: March 5-6, 2025
- Module 2: April 23-24, 2025
- Module 3: September 10-11, 2025
Module 1: Kampen om naturen & Hvad kan og skal samfundet bære?
Theme 1: Kampen om naturen - før, nu og i fremtiden
This theme explores the concept of nature as a battleground, examining the historical and current struggles over natural resources, conservation, and environmental protection.
Theme 2: Hvad kan og skal samfundet bære – socialt, politisk og økonomisk?
This theme delves into the development of a sustainable society, discussing the roles of the state, market, and civil society in achieving sustainability. It also examines the ecological footprint and planetary boundaries for CO2 emissions, as well as the dilemmas associated with Denmark's leading position in agriculture and the political desire for a green transition in agriculture.
Module 2: Klima og storbyer & Klimaskam, klimasorg og klimaapati
Theme 3: Klima og storbyer
This theme focuses on creating future green cities using nature-based and technologically driven methods for climate adaptation. It explores the possibilities and limitations of using natural methods to climate-proof cities, with inspiration from cities in the Mekong Delta.
Theme 4: Klimaskam, klimasorg og klimaapati
This theme addresses climate shame, climate grief, and climate apathy, examining why young people are affected by climate shame, grief, and anxiety, and how these emotions can be harnessed as a driving force for action. It also explores how to handle climate apathy and how young people can develop a language to discuss and cope with their own vulnerability, grief, and shame.
Module 3: Kunst og bæredygtighed & Fremtidens fødevarer
Theme 5: Kunst og bæredygtighed
This theme examines the relationship between art and sustainability, discussing how different art forms describe the climate crisis. It delves into the narratives surrounding the climate crisis in literature and visual representations.
Theme 6: Fremtidens fødevarer
This theme focuses on the development of sustainable food production using holistic methods and new technologies. It explores the barriers and opportunities for developing plant-based protein sources and examines the role of food in sustainability and societal development.
